Snow Guard Clamps
Universal® Clamps are the ideal solution when installing a snow guard system, because they can easily be adapted to attach the system. A snow guard protection system is not designed to stop all snow and ice from falling off a roof, but rather to gradually allow small amounts to fall off at a time. This can potentially minimize the damage caused to gutters, shrubbery, and, most importantly, people located below the roof.
Universal® Snow Guard Clamps make it easy to attach a snow guard protection system. The clamp can be secured through the top or side mounted 3/8 – 16″ threaded bolt. Both connections provide a solid and secure fastening method.
Typically, snow guards come in two different styles: a pipe style and a pad style. A pipe style utilizes vertical mounts that attach at the roof’s seam locations and a series of horizontal pipes run from mount to mount. Universal® Clamps are are attached at the standing seam locations to mount the vertical pipe mounts. This style of snow guard tends to be the most effective.
A pad style snow guard system utilizes a smaller standard pad or decoratively shaped piece of metal or plastic located at designated standing seam locations. These shapes can be attached directly to the Universal® Clamps for mounting purposes.
Universal® Snow Guard Clamps are designed and constructed using the highest quality aluminum and Stainless Steel components. Because of these features, the Universal® Clamp will not rust, deform, or break down when exposed to the elements of any environment.
Universal® Snow Guard Clamps can be shipped directly to any location. Pre-assembled Universal® Snow Guard Clamps can be shipped pre-assembled, meaning all hardware (ie: set-screws and mounting fasteners) come installed in the clamp body. The snow guard clamps can also be shipped disassembled with all the hardware sent in separately labeled bags to assure all parts are accounted for.
Universal® Snow Guard Clamps come in two different standard sizes: 2″ long or 1″ long XS version. The XS clamp is the perfect solution when mounting lightweight items, such as pad snow guard systems. The Universal® Snow Guard Clamp can also be custom engineered to any meet any length requirement.
The only tool required to install a Universal® Snow Guard Clamp is a 3/16″ allen drive. The clamp is placed onto the standing seam surface at the desired attachment point, and then the set-screws are tightened or loosened on each side to accurately rotate the hammers, this action applies an evenly distributed clamping force to the standing seam.
It is recommended that 16-20 ft/lb of torque be applied to the set-screws to achieve maximum holding force. Universal® Clamps feature rotating hammers which prevent the set screws from ever coming into contact with the seam of the roof, preventing holes and other damage form being worn into the roof.
